Day 4 — continued. Tazewell and Burkes Garden, VA

THANK YOU, Cindy (Greever) and Joe Nicholson, for hosting us in Burkes Garden, VA.  Cindy picked us up at Bluefield / Mercer County Airport and took me down memory lane as she drove through Tazewell, including by my childhood house.  Not much has changed in 50 years but there have been many changes.  That may not make sense.  We had a delicious bar-be-que lunch at Fisher’s, a country store and restaurant. Then we drove the curvy road to Burkes Garden, where the air is fresh and clean.  Cindy and Joe live in the same house where she grew up and we had many sleepovers as kids.  The land is beautiful and Joe has started growing blueberries and hops. We also tasted apple cider and applesauce made from apples from the trees in the back yard — yum, yum.

  1. Oh man - o- man you make me envious of you two. Wow, fresh apples from the tree, apple sauce and Cider what a fabulous tree. You'll need to go back in the fall or is it early spring to help them pick those blueberries. Oh, I'd really love that. Then having Barbecue, You two are having the life and enjoying some of my very, very favorite eats! Enjoy, you've mad e it sound wonderful.
    Cheers,
