Second journey will be happening in June 2021. Our goal is to complete landing in the 48 states. By our calculations we have 23 left, mostly west of the Mississippi River.
First day of serious planning is looking good. I just phoned 3 airports in the vicinity of my sister in Bartlett (Memphis), TN. Three airports have possible hangar space for our stay.
Myra and I have the option to join the Classic Air Tour organized by Terry C. which begins in Jackson,Tn KMKL. That tour will last for four days and end in Havasu Arizona. Havasu 99s are planning to greet and fete us. We are cogitating whether to fly the route of the air tour or plan our own route. You will find out as we make our plan and start our flight.
Big questions. What’s our route? How long are the legs? Which airports? Where to overnight? Where to stay? How many mountains to cross?
Often it’s been said that the best part of a journey is the planning. I don’t really agree with that thought. However in our case the planning is critical for having a great trip and fun adventure.
