Day 4 — VA and West Virginia: Hurricane Ridge
I grew up in Tazewell, VA so our Virginia stop had to be Tazewell County Airport - a quick stop, taxi back, and take off. It is a cute airport on top of a mountain with a breezy final approach over tall trees. We radioed the gentleman in the FBO about our adventure. He mentioned that he also graduated from Tazewell High School.
Then we had a very short flight to Bluefield, WVa. Bluefield was the airport from where I took my very first flight when I was nine years old. Jim, the maintenance guy said, “If you can fly to this airport, you can fly anywhere,”. Then when my friend, Cindy, picked us up, she said the nickname for Bluefield is “Hurricane Ridge,” Yikkes, I’m I’m glad we didn’t know that before we landed.

More Pictures from Tri Cities and the Warbird Event
We had so much fun with the Appalachian Aviatrixes at Tri Cities (Chapter chair Janice Pelletti, Meagan Harr, Pam Phillips Mary, and more). Pam, the owner of the FBO and a 99, plans community outreach opportunities for the community to interact with the airport and learn the value of the local airport.

Day 2 — Shelby, NC & Tri Cities, TN — 5/28/19
Day 2 — What an incredible adventure we are having. The first leg of day two took us to the most adorable airport in Shelby, NC. Thanks Corbi Bulluck for the recommendation.
On our way to Tri Cities, TN, the second leg was more adventurous. We Floridians are used to flying at sea level. There are mountains in TN! We planned to fly at 6500 feet. Well, wouldn’t you know, the pesky clouds were where we wanted to be and we had to climb to 10,500 feet. We’ve decided to file IFR the next time. We had to dive to get to the airport. We landed safely. The first things we saw were warbirds, Fifi and Lil Diamond. Then we were met by friendly and helpful line guys at Tri Cities Aviation. Thank you Pam Phillips for taking care of MOJO and keeping her in a hangar!
Thank you Janice and Patrick Pelletti for hosting us in your beautiful home. Your home cooked meals were absolutely delicious! We enjoyed your well trained dogs, ELSA and Bonnie. We loved seeing the tricks they can do. Visiting Jonesborough, the oldest town in TN, was a treat. We visited the Storytelling Center and cute arts and crafts stores in the quaint town.

Day 1 - Georgia and South Carolina — 5/27/19
You May have noticed that we are a bit behind in our posts.
Day 1 was a fun flying day. The weather was a little hazy and Claudette and I became a flying team - with me doing most of the flying and Claudette working the radios and navigation. Our first stop was a quickie stop and go at coastal St. Simmons Island, then we flew direct to Hilton Head, SC for an overnight stay with friends Linda and John Brink. John and Linda showed us around the beautiful island, from shopping at Harbor Town to a delicious lunch at the French Bakery and dinner at the Oyster Factory to gorgeous sunsets, and finally a deer sighting on Deer Island and a manatee in the marina. We even found a compass rose.

Weight Challenged
We have been asked about packing and traveling in the RV - since we are weight limited LOL. The RV14 holds about 100 pounds in the baggage area. Since we will be traveling for two or three weeks, we take light weight, non wrinkling items. We pack for about one week and hope we can find places to wash clothes along the way. Since we know the temperature will vary, we both packed light weight puffer jackets that are in small pouches. We also take food and water because you never know when you will be hungry. We make an effort to stay hydrated. We take a swig of water every time we change fuel tanks.

MOJO’s Adventure Begins
Hi Friends,
Pilot Myra Bugbee and co-pilot Claudette DeCourley began a flying adventure of landing MOJO in all 48 contiguous states today. We left Hollywood North Perry Airport (KHWO) in Fl early today, landed at St. Simmons Island, GA (KSSI) and overnighted at Hilton Head, SC (KHXD). Our friends, Linda and John Brink hosted us and showed us around the beautiful island.
The weather was hot and the flight was beautiful today. Here is a picture of our tentative route - the eastern US this year.

RV 14 look alike
I would like to show you the airplane we will be flying. A photo of the actual “Mojo” will be forthcoming once I am at the plane’s hangar. A video of an RV -14, manufacture model, is available on You Tube of course.
For those of you that can’t wait go to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LhFxHJxS8TA.
I am flying in the clouds today, Wednesday and Thursday to be sharp on instrument flying.
The flight today was an hour of actual instrument with only a view of the insides of clouds.
Approaches included GPS Y KCRQ, VOR A KOKB, GPS 17KSEE.
Mojo is gorgeous. I am eager to takeoff for our adventure and show off this RV 14.
Now for some more IMC flying and packing lightly.
Claudette

Creating a blog
I can imagine flying to 24 new airports and landing unlike imagining creating and managing a blog. Creating a blog seems like such a great idea 💡. My vision is a blog would be an account of all the adventures and misadventures of meeting the goal of landing Myra’s Mojo, an RV 14 in all 48 states.
As you can see this is this is my first post. I have watched hours of You Tube how to videos learning “what not to do” and in some small measure what to do. Number one: Just do it! Number two: Perfection is very difficult to make happen. Therefore, I am “just doing it” and perfection is not a concern.
By the way, the pilots are Myra Bugbee and Claudette DeCourley. We will depart May 27 from Mojo’s home Airport, North Perry, Ft. Lauderdale, FL. for St Simons Island.
You can follow us on Flight Aware and for a personal touch read our postings. Between today and May 27 we have beaucoup planning to do. So much fun to look at the charts and choose the next landing because the airport is in the next state.
