Day 2 — Shelby, NC & Tri Cities, TN — 5/28/19

Day 2 — What an incredible adventure we are having.  The first leg of day two took us to the most adorable airport in Shelby, NC.  Thanks Corbi Bulluck for the recommendation.

On our way to Tri Cities, TN, the second leg was more adventurous.  We Floridians are used to flying at sea level.  There are mountains in TN!  We planned to fly at 6500 feet.  Well, wouldn’t you know, the pesky clouds were where we wanted to be and we had to climb to 10,500 feet.  We’ve decided to file IFR the next time.  We had to dive to get to the airport.  We landed safely.  The first things we saw were warbirds, Fifi and Lil Diamond. Then we were met by friendly and helpful line guys at Tri Cities Aviation.  Thank you Pam Phillips for taking care of MOJO and keeping her in a hangar!

Thank you Janice and Patrick Pelletti for hosting us in your beautiful home.  Your home cooked meals were absolutely delicious!  We enjoyed your well trained dogs, ELSA and Bonnie.  We loved seeing the tricks they can do.  Visiting Jonesborough, the oldest town in TN, was a treat.  We visited the Storytelling Center and cute arts and crafts stores in the quaint town.

  1. Hey Aviatrixes, Great work, photos (Are those strings of turtles? in the one photo?), trip insights in addition to the flying, flight planning, touring, posting. Loving what you're sharing. Thanks. Hoping you're including some rest and downtime in the flight plans.
Great fun for us at home base.

  2. Remember, you have terrain on your Gee Whiz boxes - you can go THROUGH the mountains - very pretty!
