Day 17 -- July 3, 2021 -- "Uh oh!!!!"

Day 17 -- Weather turned today into a rest day -- well sort of.

We started the morning looking for treasures at the Fort Walton Beach Flea Market.  We didn't find anything to add to our payload but we searched.

When we don't fly, we question our decision but the downpour convinced us that we made the right decision.  Look at all of these beautiful boats.  This is like going to a fly-in with 300 airplanes.

We drove in some pretty bad traffic with a heavy rain.

The boardwalk is set up to help children and families have fun -- a train, a  bungee jumping apparatus. a zip line, dolphin tours, snorkeling tours, and more.  There were soooooo many people (and none wearing masks) that we started feeling uncomfortable so we stopped for a cold iced tea and drove back to the hotel to make a decision about flying tomorrow.  We are both ready to be home.  Hopefully, the 4th of July celebration will be a huge celebration for us, too.

  1. HI all,
For those of you who have not yet done so, please go to Flight Aware > https://flightaware.com/live/ < enter their TAIL NUMBER N199MJ in the 'Search' window.
Once on the map click in the upper right icon "Change map layers". Make sure the Weather Radar option is checked. You can move the map around , zoom-in & out, choose what category of planes you see. Lots of fun features to play with.

Then you can see and watch their incredible threading of the needle and progress through the band of clouds, rain and mostly 'YUCK' weather.

Absolutely wonderful flying skill and expertise by Myra Bugbee, Woman Pilot EXTRAORDINAIRE!

You two are now South of the band of crud and are in the clear to make a nice touch-down very soon as 'MOJO' is now parallel with Lake Okeechobee!

Touch-Down at 11:49 today will be so SWEET for you both!

HAPPY & VERY SUCCESSFUL FOURTH OF JULY!

  2. Okay per Flight Aware website your arrival is now around 11:59. You've recently descended from 5,000' to about 2,900' and have slowed from 181MPH to 123 MPH.

Cool, you're looking good now women!

Who says this is not great fun :-)!
